COURSE DESCRIPTION & OVERALL GOAL
This meeting provides an opportunity for TB Medical Consultants from the Northeast United States to meet with their state counterparts, receive updates on current topics in TB, and discuss challenges in the diagnosis and management of TB patients. Consultants from the region will also share clinical experiences and discuss cases for input from colleagues.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This meeting is designed for physicians who serve as TB medical consultants for TB programs in the Northeastern Region of the United States. Physicians who provide TB medical consultation may also attend.

WHY COURSE IS NEEDED
As the incidence of tuberculosis continues to decline, maintaining clinical and public health expertise in TB is particularly challenging. Therefore, ongoing training and education are important for healthcare providers to enhance skills in TB diagnosis, follow recommended treatment guidelines, and interact effectively with public health agencies.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able:

• List strategies to mitigate the potential long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on TB control programs.

• Outline opportunities and challenges to implementing the new four-month Rifapentine-Moxifloxacin regimen for drug-susceptible TB domestically.
  
• Compare diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for the resolution of routine and complex TB cases. 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credits, participants are required to attend the webinar and complete an evaluation.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and the Tuberculosis Centers of Excellence for Training, Education, and Medical Consultation.
